제공한다. 하지만 필리핀 국방부 알세니오 안돌롱 대변인은 필리핀 정부가 상징적인 액수인 미화 100불을 대금으로 지불할 것이라고 밝혔다고 이들 현지 언론들은 보도했다.

안돌롱 대변인은 한국 측이 이 초계함을 올해 안으로 인도해주기를 바란다고 말하면서 해당 “초계함은 현재 개조 중에 있으며, 그 경비는 우리 측이 부담할 것”이라고 덧붙였다. 하지만 안돌롱 대변인은 이 초계함을 개조하기 위해 드는 경비 등을 포함한 상세한 인도 조건에 대해서는 밝히지 않았다.
한국군의 이번 초계함 인도는 해당 함정이 퇴역 절차를 밟고 있기에 가능하게 된 것이라고 알려졌다.
필리핀 당국은 이 초계함이 영해에서 자국 해군이 전개하는 대해적, 대테러 작전뿐만 아니라 순시 활동에도 큰 역할을 할 것으로 기대하고 있다고 현지 언론들은 보도했다.

현재 한국 해군이 운영 중인 포항급 초계함은 고도의 센서장치로 작동되는 다수의 대잠수함, 함대함, 함대공 화기들을 탑재하고 있으며, 최대 32노트의 운항속도를 가지고 있는 것으로 알려져 있다.

The transfer is possible as the ROK Navy is known to be in the process of retiring the mentioned ship from its inventory.

The Philippines expects the incoming ship will boost its Navy’s capability to patrol the country’s territorial waters aside from helping in the fight against piracy and terrorism, the local media reporters added.

The “Pohang-class” corvettes that are currently operated by the ROK Navy are armed with a variety of anti-submarine, anti-vessel, and anti-air weapons with their accompanying sensor gear. They are capable of running at a speed of up to 32 knots.
